Evin Dosdall
For more than two decades, Evin Dosdall has been active in Western Canada’s design community. As the Founder, Owner, and Art Director of Invision Creative Studio since 2001, Evin has built a career around transforming complex communication challenges into thoughtful, compelling design solutions. His work spans a wide range of industries and clients, and his leadership has helped launch the careers of many young designers who have passed through his studio. Over the years, he has cultivated long-standing relationships with colleagues, collaborators, and creative professionals who share his commitment to excellence in design.
Evin’s transition into design education is a natural evolution of his career and personal values. With more than 20 years of real-world experience, he believes deeply in passing on practical knowledge to the next generation of designers—knowledge that can only be gained from hands-on client work, creative problem-solving, and navigating the fast-paced realities of studio life. His goal is to help students develop not just technical proficiency but the confidence, adaptability, and professionalism needed to succeed in the industry.
Teaching has been woven into Evin’s family for generations. His grandfather was a school teacher and administrator; his father served as Superintendent of Schools in both Langley, BC and Edmonton, AB before becoming the Deputy Minister of Education for British Columbia from 2001 to 2008. Continuing this legacy, Evin served as an Instructor at the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) from 2020 to 2024 and remains committed to shaping future creatives through meaningful, student-centered instruction.
Teaching Philosophy
Evin’s teaching philosophy is built on the belief that real-life experience is one of the most valuable assets an educator can share. Early in his career, he benefited from the mentorship of industry veterans—guidance that shaped his approach to design and contributed greatly to his long-term success. He now seeks to offer his students that same advantage.
While mastering design software is essential, Evin emphasizes the full spectrum of professional practice: collaborating with teams, communicating with clients, responding to feedback, and managing creative challenges in high-pressure environments. These practical lessons, he believes, are key to preparing students for thriving careers in design.
Evin also recognizes that every student brings unique perspectives, cultural backgrounds, experiences, and learning styles. His classroom philosophy prioritizes inclusivity, clarity, and open communication. He aims to create a relaxed, welcoming environment where creativity flows freely, expectations are clearly stated, and students feel empowered to express their goals. By fostering mutual understanding between faculty and students, he ensures that each learner has the opportunity to grow, explore, and succeed.
